Ousmane Dembele wins the Ballon d'Or in a great year with PSG
Ousmane Dembele is the sixth French player to win the Ballon d'Or in the history of the competition
Ousmane Dembele won the 69th Ballon d'Or at an event held at the Chatelet theater in Paris.
Dembele wins the award after a great year with Paris Saint Germain, which ended up champions of Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France and the first Champions League in the club's history.
The French striker becomes the second player to win the award, joining Lionel Messi, who did so as a player for the Parisian club in the 2021 edition.
Ousmane Dembele is the sixth French player to take home the distinction and the first since 2023 when Karim Benzema won it.
The Frenchmen to win the Ballon d'Or are: Raymond Kopa (Real Madrid), Michel Platini (Juventus), Jean Perre Papin (Olympique Marseille), Zinedine Zidane (Juventus) and Karim Benzema.
Papin and Dembele are the only ones to have achieved this while playing in their native country. The last player to win the Ballon d'Or with their home club was Michael Owen in 2001.
Aitana Bonmati repeats with the Women's Ballon d'Or
Aitana Bonmati won the Women's Ballon d'Or for the third consecutive year with Barcelona Femenil.
The Spanish player had 15 goals and 16 assists in the season, winning a league title and reaching the final of the Women's Champions League and the final of the Women's Euro.
The Catalan women's club has won the award in five consecutive years (2021 and 2022) and Bonmati's three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025).
PSG swept the Ballon d'Or awards
Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma, Manchester City goalkeeper and last season's At PSG, he was awarded the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper of the year on Monday.
For his part, Luis Enrique won the Johan Cruyff award for best coach of the season, beating Arne Slot, Hansi Flick and Antonio Conte.
Luis Enrique, 55, receives this recognition for the second time in his coaching career after being declared best coach in 2015 as Barcelona coach.
Paris Saint-Germain also won the World Club of the Year award after their outstanding season. Nasser Al-Khelaifi accepted the award on behalf of the club.
"I want to thank all my players, especially the captain, Marquinhos, the coach, and the entire technical staff," said the president of the Parisian club.
