Ryan Garcia thanks the WBC after they lifted his suspension
Ryan Garcia said he is more than ready to become a true champion and represent the organization in the best way possible
Ryan Garcia thanked the World Boxing Council (WBC) on his social media after they officially lifted his suspension and reinstated him in the organization's rankings, now that he is close to fighting for the title.
In a post on his official account on X, Garcia said he is more than ready to become a true champion and represent the organization in the best way possible.
“I am officially unsuspended of the WBC. I want to thank the WBC for recognizing my efforts to change and making this decision. I am ready to put on that green and gold belt and represent it as a true champion,” the Californian wrote.
Remember that King Ry was expelled by the WBC for making racist and discriminatory comments during a live broadcast in 2024, the same year the boxer tested positive for doping after his fight with Devin Haney and suffered from mental health issues.
But, after a documented evaluation to which the Californian was subjected, it was determined that he successfully met the requirements set by the WBC to be a member again.
According to Mike Coppinger, writing for The Ring magazine, Ryan Garcia is close to finalizing an agreement with Mario Barrios to fight for the organization's welterweight title in the first quarter of 2026, and both teams have already exchanged contracts.
The Californian had already expressed his interest in facing Barrios to win the title and seek a money fight against Manny Pacquiao or a rematch with Rolando 'Rolly' Romero. This news hasn't gone down well with fans because they think he's getting an unfair opportunity. Ryan Garcia, 25, returned to action after a year of inactivity due to a doping suspension and lost for the second time in his career to Rolly Romero. The Mexican-American has a record of 24 wins (20 by knockout), two losses, and one no contest in his professional career.
