Salvador Cabanas faces legal claim from his children for supposed mental incapacity
Salvador Cabanas was sued by his children claiming mental problems to manage his assets
As incredible as it may seem, Salvador Cabanas is paying the consequences of the attack that almost cost him his life in a bar in Mexico City 15 years ago by currently being sued by his children to be able to manage his assets, claiming the mental incapacity of the former striker of America.
According to information generated in his native Paraguay, his children Mia and Santiago filed a lawsuit to have their father classified as mentally "insane" in order to establish a guardian to manage his assets because he cannot take care of himself.
However, the former Aguilas striker agreed to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to dismiss these accusations from his offspring, which represented a hard blow to the player's spirit when considering that he received this strong claim from those he least expected to be attacked.
This mental analysis demonstrated the opposite of what the family members argue in their claim to seize his assets and be able to depend on them at the discretion of the person who is designated by the Paraguayan authorities themselves.
As you may recall, 15 years ago Cabanas was involved in an attack that nearly cost him his life at the hands of the notorious drug trafficker Jose Jorge Balderas Garza, alias "El JJ," an alleged operator of the organized crime group led by Edgar Valdez Villarreal, better known as "La Barbie," who was allegedly the mastermind behind these events.
The results of Cabanas' psychiatric analysis
The analysis performed on Salvador Cabanas showed the exact opposite of what his children are saying. Therefore, authorities must now order an expert examination by designated specialists in order to reach a final verdict.
For now, the results of Cabanas' examination established the following:
His appearance and attitude: appropriate and cooperative.
Language: with a measured rhythm and tone.
Orientation: in person and partially in time and space.
Affective state: euthymic, without marked emotional disturbances.
Perception: without disturbances.
Thinking: preserved course, without delusional ideas or serious disturbances.
Judgment and criticism: coherent and with full awareness of his situation.
Cabanas is supposedly mentally fit.
Meanwhile, Cabanas' analysis ruled out any psychotic, delusional, or hallucinatory characteristics, concluding that Salvador Cabanas maintains his mental faculties and does not currently present serious psychiatric disorders.
For now, we will have to wait for the outcome of this legal claim, where the responsibility will fall on the civil and commercial judge Jose Villalba Baez, who will have to evaluate whether the legal claim of his children will have to be maintained or will end up being filed by the aforementioned professionals.
The controversy has generated a strong debate about the family relationship and the protection of the rights of Cabanas, whose mental state is confirmed, at least by medical evidence, as fully valid.
