The Mexican under-17 team doesn't give up in the World Cup
Despite losing their debut match against South Korea, striker Luis Gamboa acknowledged that they will not give up in the Qatar World Cup
The Mexican national team got off to a rough start in the U-17 World Cup being held in Qatar. Luis Gamboa, striker for the Mexican team, shared his thoughts after the first match against South Korea. Mexico doesn't give up.
Mexico was placed in Group F of this World Cup. The first opponent for the team managed by Carlos Carino was South Korea. With goals from Koo Kyeon-Bin in the 19th minute and Nam Ian in the 49th, the Asian team took all 3 points. Aldo de Nigris scored the goal for the Mexican team. The result was against them, but the Mexican team created many scoring opportunities. Luck was not on the side of the Concacaf team. "We didn't get the result, but I think that, honestly, we gave what we've always been working on, we really worked very well; it didn't happen, but it doesn't upset us, we have two more games. We're going to keep pushing forward and we're going to give it our all no matter what," said forward Luis Gamboa. With the result against them, the Mexican youth team pressed forward, attacking the goal defended by Park Do-Hun. The Mexican team managed 17 shots, 8 of which were on target, completed 4 corner kicks, and maintained 56% possession. But the equalizing goal never came. "It's just the beginning, the start of this important competition. We can't give up, that's the most important thing; this is a result that, yes, hurts, but it's okay. We have to keep moving forward," Gamboa added. Mexico's Path in the World Cup: After their first match against South Korea, Mexico will play their next game this Friday, November 7, against Ivory Coast.
