Xander Zayas, the World Boxing Organization (WBO) 154-pound champion, said he thought the fight between Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Terence Crawford would be closer, and that the Mexican would be the winner.

In an interview with Izquierdazo, Zayas admitted that he didn't have much faith that Crawford would beat the Mexican, but in the end, he proved why he is one of the best boxers in the world.

“I thought it was going to be a little closer, I thought Canelo was probably going to take the victory because of the weight, because of his experience at 168 (pounds), but Crawford showed once again why he is the best in the world,” he said.

“I have a good relationship with Terence, I consider him a good friend. Obviously, I'm super excited for him, happy for what he did, an achievement we had never seen before, three-time undisputed champion. I think he's the only man in history to do it, and I'm extremely happy for him,” he added.

In the super fight held in Las Vegas, Terence Crawford was superior to the Mexican thanks to his technique, speed, and boxing intelligence. Although Canelo Alvarez landed some powerful punches, the American fighter countered his attacks by moving around the ring and managed to dismantle his offense, dominating him with a higher volume of punches. At the end of the 12 rounds, the judges awarded the victory to Bud—as he is known—by unanimous decision with scores of 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113. With this result, Crawford dethroned the Mexican fighter at 168 pounds and made history by becoming an undisputed champion for the third time in a different weight class. It is currently unknown what the American champion's next step will be, but he made it clear that he will continue competing at 168 pounds. The names of David Benavidez and Hamzah Sheeraz are being mentioned as Bud's possible next opponents. Terence Crawford, 37, became the undisputed champion of three different weight divisions by defeating the Mexican and made boxing history. The American remains undefeated and now has 42 wins.31 of them by knockout.

Meanwhile, Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, 34, lost his undisputed 168-pound championship to Crawford in a historic fight. The Mexican now has a record of 63 wins (39 by knockout), three losses, and two draws in his professional career.
