The Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is the top-of-the-range model in the recent Pixel 10 series, priced at $1,199 for the 256GB version. Google positions it as its most ambitious device to date, with improvements in battery, camera, artificial intelligence and connectivity.

After testing a 256 GB version and reviewing the official specifications, we present the highlights and limitations that you should know before deciding to buy it.

Strong points: Artificial Intelligence, cameras, screen and charging

Artificial Intelligence: The Google Pixel 10 Pro, in its “normal” or XL version, incorporates multiple Artificial Intelligence functions that They are easily and naturally integrated into many of the phone's applications. From automatic photo editing, real-time translation of calls between two languages, voice-to-text transcription and many more thanks to the Gemini assistant in the Google environment.

Bright and fluid screen: The Pixel 10 Pro XL incorporates a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The estimated maximum brightness reaches around 3,300 nits at peaks (an improvement from the 3,000 nits of the previous model). This helps with outdoor visibility in very strong sunlight. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, which provides resistance against scratches and bumps.

Chip and generous memory: The heart of the device is the Tensor G5 chip, designed to power integrated artificial intelligence functions. The RAM is 16 GB for all confirmed versions. In terms of storage, there are 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions (there is no microSD slot).

Cameras and AI image processing: The Pixel 10 Pro XL comes with three rear cameras: a 50MP main sensor, an ultra-wide angle, and a 48MP telephoto lens with up to 10x optical zoom and up to an impressive 100x digital zoom. The front camera is 42MP, excellent for selfies and video calls. The improvements in photography and video aren't just due to the hardware. Many of the new features come from AI image processing (improvements in color, detail, smart suggestions, etc.).It even has a "camera coach" that uses Gemini to give you tips on how to take better photos.

Battery and charging: The Pixel 10 Pro XL uses the largest battery to date in any Google smartphone, with a capacity of 5,200 mAh. Fast charging capacity is 45W wired; and wireless charging via Qi2 goes up to 25W in this XL model, but drops to 15W in the regular-sized version.

Connectivity and extras: The Pixel 10 Pro XL supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, 5G (mmWave and Sub-6GHz), and dual eSIM (no physical tray in some markets). It also includes IP68-certified water and dust resistance. The speakers are stereo and offer better sound than previous versions.

Weak points: real autonomy, weight and price

Battery autonomy: Google assures that the phone has an estimated autonomy of more than 24 hours in mixed use, with an “Extreme Battery Saver” mode that can extend it up to 100 hours in low activity situations. But the reality is that after a day of demanding use, it usually drops below 20% at the end of the day.

Considerable weight and dimensions: The device measures 162.8 × 76.6 × 8.5 mm, and weighs 8.2 ounces - 232 grams (11 grams more than the Pixel 9 Pro XL version). For some, that weight makes it uncomfortable to handle with one hand, or to carry it in your pocket. But the solution is easy: that's what the “regular” 7.3-ounce (207-gram) Pixel 10 Pro is for. Capacity: The Pro version is offered in four capacity options (128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB), with the XL being the last three. The Pro XL version we tested is 128GB, which is a limited capacity for video storage. Since there's no microSD card option, we recommend upgrading to the higher-end versions of at least 512GB. Price: The Google Pixel 10 Pro isn't a cheap phone. It starts at $999 for the “regular” 128GB version. Higher-capacity versions are available for $1,099 for 256GB, $1,219 for 512GB, and $1,499 for 1TB. For its part, the Pixel 10 Pro XL starts at $1,199 for its 256 GB version (Google eliminated the 128 GB version for the XL model). And the higher capacity versions are listed at $1,319 for 512 GB and $1,549 for 1 TB.

Is it worth it? Overall assessment

The Pixel 10 Pro XL is an ambitious bet by Google. It offers very notable improvements in the screen, camera, smart functions and advanced wireless charging (25 W). If you prioritize photography and video, AI-assisted features, an integrated Android experience and you do not mind having a heavy, large and somewhat expensive phone,This model is a very good option.
