Emilio Estefan reacted to the rumors about the coronation of his niece Lina Luaces
The music producer denied the rumors that accuse him of having paid for the 22-year-old to win the Miss Cuba beauty pageant.
Emilio Estefan broke his silence on the recent rumors surrounding the coronation of his niece Lina Luaces as the new Miss Universe Cuba, which claim that would have paid for the young woman to win.
Through his official Instagram account, the music producer denied the rumors and described these accusations as offensive, false and without any basis.
“With all the need there is in the world, we would NEVER do something like this. “Stop spreading this madness and lies!” Estefan wrote under a post from a media outlet that accused him of paying for his niece to win.
For her part, Lina Luaces also shared her great-uncle's message on her Instagram stories, highlighting the parts where he denied buying the title and showing her gratitude.
Likewise, Prince Julio Cesar, director of the Miss Universe Cuba pageant, defended the transparency and professionalism of the event, assuring that there was no favoritism or influence on the part of the Estefan family in the selection of the beauty queen.
The coronation of Lina Luaces, daughter of presenter Lili Estefan, has generated various reactions due to the media visibility of her family and questions about her relationship with Cuba, because he was born in the United States. However, Lina has reaffirmed her pride in representing the island and her desire to stand out on her own merit.
On July 8, Lina Luaces was crowned Miss Universe Cuba 2025 at a gala held at Milander Park in Hialeah, Florida.
At this event, Luaces represented Santiago de Cuba and received the crown from her predecessor, Marianela Ancheta, who was the first Miss Universe Cuba after 57 years of absence from the international pageant.
This pageant was organized by Venezuelan Prince Julio César, under a ceremony hosted by Puerto Rican Carlos Aydán and Miss Universe 2023, Sheynis Palacios.
Lina, 22 years old,She prevailed over other candidates and was also awarded the title of Miss Press on the same night.
