The launch of the first spy satellite done by North Korea to strengthen the power of the army was unsuccessful recently. North Korea attempted to put its first military spy satellite into orbit on May 31, but the rocket carrying the satellite crashed into the Yellow Sea. Engine fault is said to be the reason behind this. North Korea had said it would launch the satellite again as soon as possible.

In the report of the meeting of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the ruling party strongly criticized the officials who had irresponsibly prepared the satellite launch. Along with this, these people have also demanded an inquiry. The committee said that it will soon launch this satellite again. Earlier, Pyongyang had said that it was needed to defeat the growing US military presence in the region.

The plan to launch the military spy satellite was condemned by the US, South Korea and Japan. They say it violates United Nations resolutions barring the nuclear-armed country from conducting any tests using ballistic missile technology.
