The Israeli Army arrests alleged members of Hamas in Syrian territory
The Israeli Army announced the arrest of members of the Palestinian militant group Hamas in a rural area outside Damascus, the capital of Syria.
The Israeli Army reported this Thursday the arrest of alleged members of Hamas in the Mazraat Beit Jinn area, in southern Syria.
“The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) arrested Hamas terrorists were operating in Beit Jinn in southern Syria,” reads a brief military statement, which also notes that the detainees were taken to Israeli territory for interrogation.
During the operation, Israeli forces also confiscated weapons, magazines, and ammunition.
Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December and the rise to power of Ahmed al-Sharaa, Israel has frequently bombed areas of the neighboring country under the justification of destroying weapons, in addition to occupying the Syrian side of Mount Hermon, in the demilitarized zone of the Golan Heights.
The Israeli army has also increased its operations in Syrian territory after detecting two rockets from the neighboring country against the north of the country last Tuesday, which fell in unpopulated areas, without causing casualties.
