This is chronic disease of the veins that diagnosed Trump
The White House revealed the diagnosis after days of speculation about the president’s health
President Donald Trump suffers from chronic venous disease, the White House announced Thursday, after days of speculation generated by photographs showing bruises on the president's hand.
After experiencing Recently experiencing leg swelling, Trump underwent a "comprehensive examination" that included a vascular workup, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Leavitt said Trump's bruised hand was consistent with "tissue damage caused by frequent handshakes" while he was taking aspirin, which she said is part of standard cardiovascular prevention treatment. Trump, 79, has frequently boasted about his good health, once calling himself "the healthiest president in history." Venous insufficiency The condition The venous thrombosis discovered in the recent exam is called chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that occurs when the veins in the legs have trouble pumping blood back to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower extremities, which can swell.
The condition is considered common, especially in people over 70, Leavitt said, adding that no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease was found and that all test results were within normal ranges.
The full medical report will be released to the press, the White House said.
Photographers captured what appeared to be Trump's swollen legs during the World Cup final FIFA Clubs in New Jersey on July 13.
Earlier this week, photos were taken showing his bruised hands during a meeting with Bahraini Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the White House.
The president had previously been photographed with a bruised hand during a meeting with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, in February.
Leg swelling and bruising prompted speculation that the president may be suffering from an undisclosed illness.
Following an annual physical in April, White House physician Sean Barbabella wrote that Trump “exhibits good cognitive and physical health.”
Trump was 78 years, seven months old when he was inaugurated for his second term in January, making him the oldest president to take office.
