Balcony collapses near the University of Cincinnati: 10 injured, one in critical condition

A balcony on the third floor of a building near the University of Cincinnati collapsed on Friday night, leaving 10 people injured. One of them is in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse.
The accident occurred Friday night at an apartment building located near the University of Cincinnati, Ohio.
According to Captain Stephen Bower of the Cincinnati Police Department, the building was frequented by university students who were celebrating that night after an important exam.
"They had an important exam today and they were celebrating," Bower said during a press conference.
Ten hospitalized, one in critical condition
Authorities reported that ten people were transported to local hospitals, one of them in critical condition. According to the report, five suffered serious injuries and four minor injuries.
Firefighters, paramedics, and police officers responded to the scene and cordoned off the area while rescue work and a structural assessment were carried out.
Cincinnati Fire Chief Frank McKinley told WKRC-TV that the incident is under investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
It is not yet clear how many people were on the balcony at the time of the collapse.
Images and videos posted on social media show the structure fallen to the ground while officers and firefighters work in the area.
