Hilton and Becerra consolidate leadership in the California gubernatorial primaries
Preliminary results position Steve Hilton and Xavier Becerra as the favorites for November, after more than half of the ballots have been counted
Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Xavier Becerra remain the two candidates with the most votes in the California gubernatorial primaries after just over half of the ballots from the electoral process that took place this Tuesday, June 2, were counted.
With 57.5% of the ballots counted, Hilton was leading the race with 27.8%, with Becerra in second place with 25.4%. If the trend, which was observed since the first preliminary results, continues, Hilton and Becerra would advance to the general elections in November.
Democrat Tom Steyer was in third place, with 19.6%, ahead of Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, who was in fourth place in the table, with 11.3% of the vote.
