California free from drought after 25 years
Winter storms in late 2025 helped end all drought conditions in California for the first time since 2000
For the first time in 25 years, the state of California is free from drought.
According to the latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor, there is no trace of drought left in any of the state's 58 counties Dorado, according to data up to January 6, 2026.
Potential drought conditions were eliminated after a series of winter storms that brought heavy rainfall to California in the last months of 2025, especially those that occurred during the Christmas and New Year holidays in the southern part of the state.
