An unidentified group of people committed a hate crime against the LGBTQ+ community in Long Beach, authorities reported this Sunday.
Vandals painted offensive messages against the gay community on a utility box in front of the Long Beach Pride headquarters, at 1017 Obispo Avenue, near the intersection with East 10th Street, an incident that is being investigated as a hate crime.
The offensive language, along with a swastika and the acronym “MAGA,” was painted at approximately 5:40 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of 10th Street and Obispo Avenue, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.
