Danger of explosion or chemical spill persists in Orange County
More than 50,000 Garden Grove residents are under evacuation orders due to the risk of a GKN Aerospace chemical storage tank explosion
A chemical storage tank remains at risk of experiencing an explosion or spilling toxic products this Sunday morning at the GKN Aerospace facility in the city of Garden Grove, Orange County.
According to officials, the threat is that a failure in the tank could spill thousands of gallons of methyl methacrylate, a highly toxic chemical substance, or in the worst case scenario, that the tank could explode as a result of the increase in temperature inside.
The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, declared a state of emergency this Saturday due to the emergency at the industrial facility in Garde Grove.
