Eight crew members lost their lives after a United States Air Force B-52 Stratofortress bomber crashed this Monday shortly after taking off from Edwards Air Force Base in Kern County, officials confirmed.
The bomber, carrying eight crew members on a routine test mission, crashed shortly after 11:20 a.m. Emergency personnel responded immediately, but the first indications were that the accident was fatal.
Authorities at Edwards Air Force Base, located in the Mojave Desert, about 100 miles (160 kilometers) north of Los Angeles, confirmed the death of the eight people in a press conference.
