El Chapo Guzmán sends new letter in which insists on being extradited to Mexico
In this message, written on a page of a notebook, the drug trafficker insists on his transfer to Mexican territory and the possibility of a new trial
Just a few days from a letter written by Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán from an American prison. e to request his extradition to Mexico, again a new missive issued by the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
In said message, written on a page of a notebook, the drug trafficker insists on his transfer to Mexican territory.
“My name is Joaquín Guzmán and I'm fighting for a extradition release back to Mexico. Today I've written several letters "about the fairness of my appeal on the next date to obtain equal treatment under the-law," the letter reads.
The letter is dated on 28 April and was received by the Court of New York on 6 May 6, as can be seen on a stamp on the top.
“During my appeal process, the possibility of a new trial has been considered, and also that the parties from both countries can coordinate policies to facilitate my return to my country,” El Chapo added.
This is not the first time that the former criminal leader sent letters to request to serve his sentence in his country of origin.
However, federal judge Brian Cogan, who sentenced him originally, denied all previously-submitted petitions.
Guzmán Loera is serving a life sentence in the ADX Florence prison, in Colorado, after a trial in which he was accused of 10 counts of drug trafficking, weapons and for participating in a conspiracy to commit money laundering.
