In the midst of the devastation left by the double earthquake that shook the northern coast of Venezuela, a life story has moved the country and the world. Gael Jesús was born in an improvised shelter, among the rubble and chaos, just hours after the earthquakes that destroyed homes and left thousands of victims.

His mother, Eliana García, 19, was scheduled to give birth via cesarean section days later. However, the emergency completely changed their plans. During the early morning, while she was seeking shelter with her family after the collapse of several buildings, labor began.

Without access to a hospital and surrounded by destruction, family members and volunteers improvised a delivery room using a sheet as a stretcher. Minutes later, Gael was born, who came into the world healthy despite the difficult conditions in which the birth occurred, according to AFP.

After the birth, both the mother and the newborn were transferred to a medical center, where they received care and remain stable. Doctors indicated that the baby did not present complications, despite the extreme context in which he was born.

The story has quickly spread across social networks and international media, turning Gael into a symbol of hope for thousands of families affected by the tragedy.
