Los Angeles Police Stop Protecting Former Vice President Harris
LAPD officers had been assigned to protect the former vice president, but they were removed as of Saturday; protection is in the hands of the CHP
As soon as Trump's instruction was announced to withdraw the security assigned to Harris, who resides in Brentwood, as of September 1, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced that it would take over the protection of the former vice president, with the support of the LAPD.
The new assignment for the LAPD, at the request of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, provoked harsh criticism within its own ranks in the police sector, because officers were being diverted from fighting crime to provide protection to the vice president, according to the Los Angeles Times.
