Omar Bravo stayed in preventive detention for the next six months
Omar Bravo will have to continue the rest of his legal process against him for aggravated child sexual abuse in preventive detention for the next six months
Omar Bravo Tordecillas, former forward for Chivas, Deportivo La Coruna, Cruz Azul, Atlas and UdeG, finally did not walk out of the courts, but, on the contrary, will have to face the legal process for the crime of aggravated child abuse in preventive detention for the next six months until the final sentence is known.
Leobardo Trevino, Bravo's defense attorney, said in an interview with El Pais newspaper last Thursday that his client would walk away due to the weakness of the evidence presented by the accusing party for aggravated child sexual abuse over the past six years.
But ultimately, authorities from the Jalisco Special Prosecutor's Office for Sexual Crimes determined that he had done enough to link him to the process and that he face the rest of his process in preventive detention for the next six months until his final sentence is known.
After almost twelve hours of hearing at the Prosecutor's Office, the alleged culprit was ordered to be held in official preventive detention for the next six months, and a period of one month was set to determine the closing of the complementary investigation in which both parties will present the evidence that they deem necessary.
During this period, the lawyer for the affected party, Juan Soltero, must prove and substantiate the video that supposedly Omar accuses Bravo, as well as 42 screenshots that the victim claims have accumulated during the seven years of alleged and constant abuse, as well as touching of the minor's private parts.
While the former soccer player's defense attorney will have to argue that the accusing party's evidence is out of time and form, as well as the fact that the authorities of the Special Prosecutor's Office for Sexual Crimes do not have a substantiated investigation file to the point that they have had to dust off alleged investigations against the alleged culprit in order to establish a crime that could condemn the alleged sexual aggressor to several years in prison.
It should be remembered that within the process, Bravo was charged last Sunday, October 5,when his defense invoked the duplication of the constitutional term of 144 hours to gather evidence, which was presented this Friday, October 10, when it was determined that the former soccer player was linked to the process.
The former striker will not go unpunished, assures the victim's lawyer
Meanwhile, the victim's lawyer, Juan Soltero, reaffirmed that the aggressor will not go unpunished for this crime: "If this guy is released, imagine what awaits the minor or his mother," he questioned.
The defense attorney even reaffirmed that the evidence is damning and compelling: "The video leaves no doubt that erotic sexual acts were being carried out against the minor," he said. "The minor has been very brave; she gathered the evidence for years," he said.
Important video in favor of Omar Bravo
On the other hand, Omar Bravo's lawyer, Leobardo Trevino, said before starting the hearing this Friday that there is a video in favor of the former Chivas player where it is proven that the former World Cup player in Germany 2006 with the Mexican national team, along with his family, was in Sinaloa.
"There is a very important video from May 10, 2019 where Omar supposedly began the attacks and aggressions, if we consider that we demonstrated very well that he, his mother and his sister traveled to Los Mochis and were there for Mother's Day and returned on Sunday."
"We demonstrated with photographs, with plane tickets, with boarding passes that there is no way they were purchased with a date before and changing the names. 11 or 12, with witnesses, with photographs, but I'm being asked to present more incriminating evidence than the prosecution has," he concluded.
