Republican senator lashes out at Stephen Miller, senior White House advisor
Republican Thom Tillis urges Stephen Miller, senior White House advisor, to become better informed about geopolitical issues or resignation
Thom Tillis, Republican senator from North Carolina, issued strong criticisms against Stephen Miller, senior White House advisor, urging him to become better informed about geopolitical issues or else resign from his position in President Donald Trump's Trump administration.
A few days ago, the New York tycoon's closest advisor gave an interview to CNN where he stated that no other nation in the world would have the military capacity to prevent the United States from annexing Greenland.
“The United States should have Greenland as part of its territory. There is no need to even think or talk about this in the context you are suggesting, of a military operation. Nobody is going to fight militarily against the United States over the future of Greenland,” Miller stated.
In response, Thom Tillis, the ranking Republican on the Senate's bipartisan NATO Observer Group since 2018, lashed out at Miller.
“What I saw in your interview was unacceptable. And it put me in a bit of a bad mood. Mr. Miller said that Greenland should be part of the United States. That is absurd.”
Stephen Miller "It does not represent the United States government, but rather the Article II branch. And I, as a member of the United States Senate, have the right to express my opinion on this matter," he emphasized during an interview with CNN. He then reminded the deputy chief of staff that annexing Greenland would create a conflict for the United States with NATO and strengthen its adversaries. "It is very important that the NATO alliance knows that we support them because they supported us. We have to make it very clear that our strength and our ability to project power to confront Putin, to confront Russia, to confront China, to confront Iran, is all based on this exquisite capability that we have in NATO," he explained. Senator Tillis even recommended firing those whose comments overshadow Donald Trump's performance as president. "I'm sick of all this stupidity. I want good advice for this president because I want him to leave a good legacy. And this nonsense about what's happening with Greenland distracts from the good work he's doing, and the fans who said it was a good idea should lose their jobs,” he reiterated.
