Los Angeles residents must prepare for winter storm, request authorities
The National Weather Service said the amount of rain could cause flash floods and mudflows in fire-affected areas
Los Angeles County authorities asked residents, particularly those living near fire scars, to take precautions ahead of a severe winter storm that will affect Southern California starting Tuesday, December 23.
From According to forecasts from the National Weather Service (NWS), four days of rain are expected, with the heaviest rainfall between Tuesday night and Wednesday, when precipitation could be intense, with the risk of causing flash floods and mudflows. A flood watch is in effect for most of the Los Angeles metropolitan area, from 4:00 pm Tuesday until 4:00 pm Friday, December 26, when rainfall of 0.75 to 1.25 inches per hour is possible.
