Woman suffered serious injuries after being attacked by a bear in Alaska

A 36-year-old woman was seriously injured after being attacked by a bear near the entrance of her home in Kenai, Alaska, authorities reported.
The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, when the runner was preparing to start her morning routine. According to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, the animal surprised her right in front of her residence.
Emergency Rescue and Transport
A neighbor located the woman after the attack and notified authorities. Minutes later, the victim was airlifted to a hospital in Anchorage, where she received medical attention for “serious injuries.” Authorities did not provide details on the type of injuries or the patient’s current condition after the initial evaluation. Search for the bear: Following the incident, personnel from the Alaska Wildlife Patrol, the Kenai Police Department, and the Department of Fish and Game deployed an operation with ground patrols and drones to locate the animal, but so far it has not been located. Authorities recommended that the population remain alert outdoors while the search effort continues. The attack occurred near the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, a protected area that has almost 2 million acres and is home to more than 2,100 animal species, including bears, moose, and wolves. The investigation into the bear’s attack continues.
