C-295 transport aircraft to be built in Vadodara, Gujarat, Tata-Airbus to build, PM Modi to lay foundation stone

The Indian Air Force's transport aircraft C-295 will now be made by Tata-Airbus. It will be manufactured in Vadodara, Gujarat. Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar said today that a manufacturing plant will be set up in Vadodara, Gujarat for the production of Airbus C-295 transport aircraft. He said that the foundation stone laying ceremony will be organized on October 30 in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also participate.
The Defense Secretary also said that this is the first time that the C-295 aircraft will be manufactured outside Europe. In September last year, India signed an agreement with Airbus Defense and Space worth about Rs 21 thousand crore. Under this deal, India had talked about 56 C-295 transport aircraft in place of its old Avro-748 aircraft. Under this project, military aircraft are to be manufactured in India for the first time by a private company.
40 aircraft to be assembled in India: Under the agreement with Airbus Defense and Space, Airbus will supply the first 16 aircraft within four years, after which 40 aircraft will be made in India by Tata Advanced Systems. The aircraft will be manufactured under an industrial partnership between the two companies.
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of the plant: Under the agreement, C-295 aircraft will be made at a plant in Vadodara, Gujarat, India. The plant will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of the plant on 30 October. Additional aircraft can also be manufactured at the plant for the needs of the Air Force and for export.
