T Mobile Abandons Its Inclusion Initiatives After Pressures Government
The mobile operator expressed that it will no longer have dedicated DEI teams and references to it will not be found in its training materials or website
The American mobile network operator, T-Mobile announced through a statement to the Federal Communications Commission that it is abandoning its inclusion initiatives under its DEI policies due to strong pressure from the Donald Trump administration.
In the letter to the entity dated July 8, the company highlighted: “We recognize that the legal and policy landscape that surrounding DEI under federal law has changed,” he said, noting that as of this decision, the company will no longer have dedicated DEI teams, nor will references be found in its training materials or website.
In this regard, FCC President Brendan Carr commented that this is “another good step forward for equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and the public interest. I encourage all companies seeking FCC approval to get to work to end any form of hateful discrimination regarding DEI,” he said.
Positions against DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) gained strength during the 2024 election campaign, and since Donald Trump took office and rejected this trend, a large part of private sector companies have been distancing themselves from these policies.
