Meet the new Mercedes GLC EQ totally electric
Mercedes-Benz presented the new GLC EQ, an electric SUV that combines luxury, power and cutting-edge technology with up to 483 horsepower
The automotive industry is undergoing a profound change, and Mercedes-Benz wants to be at the forefront of the transformation. With the launch of the new GLC EQ, the star brand not only expands its electric portfolio, but also reinforces the idea that luxury and technology can go hand in hand in the same vehicle.
This SUV is not intended to be a simple derivative of its combustion brother. Mercedes conceived it as part of a new generation that will pave the way for the premium mobility of the future, where efficiency and electric autonomy have the same importance as design and comfort.
With the GLC EQ, the German firm proposes a balance between tradition and modernity. The vehicle maintains the essence of the mid-size SUV that has been a commercial success, but elevates it with an electric motor capable of delivering impressive performance figures.
A design with its own identity
The new Mercedes GLC EQ is distinguished at first glance by its large chrome grille, accompanied by a lighting system that highlights the entire front. The standard LED headlights, with the option of digital lighting integrated into the grille and the emblem, reinforce the vehicle's imposing presence.
At the rear, a light strip that runs along the entire tailgate gives it a sophisticated and modern aesthetic. The panoramic roof, which extends over all the seats, provides spaciousness and light, while the details in refined finishes make it clear that this SUV belongs to the most exclusive range of the brand.
The design not only seeks to impact visually, it is also thought for aerodynamic efficiency, a key factor in the performance of an electric vehicle.
Interior: technology and luxury in balance
If on the outside the GLC EQ stands out for its personality, inside it displays the best example of digital luxury from Mercedes-Benz. The protagonist is the 39.1-inch Hyperscreen, composed of more than 1,000 LEDs and fully customizable.
This system is connected to the latest version of MBUX, which not only allows intuitive control, but also integrates artificial intelligence developed in collaboration with Microsoft and Google. The result is a more fluid on-board experience, with predictive functions and more natural voice assistants.
Another unique detail is the roof with ambient lighting made up of 162 stars integrated into the glass, an aesthetic nod inspired by what ultra-luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce offer.
Power and autonomy for long journeys
The heart of the GLC EQ is its 483-horsepower electric propulsion system, capable of delivering performance that exceeds what is expected of a midsize SUV. This power is complemented by a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, making it practical not only in the city, but also for recreational activities.
The range is one of its strongest points: it reaches up to 443 miles on a single charge in its most equipped version. This figure places it above several direct competitors in the luxury segment.
The 94 kWh lithium-ion battery, together with the modular architecture on which the vehicle is based, allows it to take advantage of 400-volt fast-charging stations. In just 10 minutes, it is capable of recovering up to 188 miles of autonomy, a figure that positions it as one of the fastest recharging in its category.
Driving Technology
Mercedes did not limit itself to electrifying the GLC; it also equipped it with innovations in its driving dynamics. One of them is the optional Airmatic suspension, which incorporates an intelligent control system and the Car-to-X function.
Thanks to this technology, the suspension adjusts automatically according to road conditions, ensuring greater comfort and safety. In addition, the system allows the exchange of information with other vehicles and the road infrastructure, anticipating potholes, irregularities, or sharp turns.
With this, the GLC EQ not only promises a premium driving experience, but also a level of advanced safety adapted to the future of connected mobility.
Price and market arrival
Mercedes-Benz confirmed that the GLC EQ will hit the US market in the second half of 2026.
Although the official price has not yet been revealed, it is expected to exceed $60,000 dollars, considering that the gasoline version starts at around $50,000 dollars.
This places it as a competitive option within the luxury electric SUV segment, where it will have to compete with models such as the BMW iX, the Audi Q8 e-tron, and the Tesla Model X.
