Who will Social Security pay their benefits on July 15?
Social Security will send payments on July 15 to a group of beneficiaries. Know who receives money, remaining dates and average amounts
The month of July continues with the delivery of Social Security payments and this week it will be the turn of a new group of beneficiaries. On Wednesday, July 15, millions of retirees, people with disabilities and survivors will receive their monthly benefits, as long as they meet the criteria established by the Social Security Administration (SSA).
Currently, more than 71.3 million people receive benefits administered by the SSA in the United States. To distribute payments in an organized manner, the agency uses a calendar divided mainly into three dates, which correspond to the second, third and fourth Wednesday of each month. The date each person receives depends on the day of birth of the beneficiary or the worker whose work history generated the benefit.
Who will receive the Social Security payment on July 15?
On Wednesday, July 15, people born between the 11th and 20th of any month will receive their payment. This group corresponds to the second block within the regular payment schedule that the SSA uses during July 2026.
The remaining Social Security payment dates for this month were as follows:
It is important to remember that if a person receives benefits based on another person's work history, as is the case with some spouses or survivors, the SSA takes the date of birth of the worker who generated the benefit as a reference to establish the day of payment.
Which beneficiaries already received their money in July?
The first group on Wednesdays that already received their payment was that of the beneficiaries who were born between the 1st and 10th of the month. These people received their money on July 8.
Additionally, some beneficiaries are not part of the three-Wednesday calendar because they receive their payments under different rules. People who started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 already got their payment on Thursday, July 2, regardless of their date of birth.
That same day those who combine this program with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) also received their Social Security benefits. In these cases, the SSI payment for July was previously sent on Wednesday, July 1.
These groups normally receive their payments on the 3rd of each month, but the date was changed because July 3 was considered a federal holiday.
How much money do Social Security beneficiaries receive?
The amount each person receives depends on factors such as their years of work, the income reported during their working life, and the type of benefit they receive. However, monthly averages shared by SSA show the following amounts:
These amounts represent a general average, so some beneficiaries may receive more or less money depending on their particular situation.
How does the SSA send Social Security payments?
SSA makes payments primarily through direct deposit, an option that allows money to be automatically delivered to a registered bank account.
Beneficiaries can review or update their banking information through the agency's “My Social Security” online tool. Keeping that information up to date helps avoid problems with future payments.
Another option available is the Direct Express card, a debit card created to receive federal payments without needing a traditional bank account.
To request this service, beneficiaries can call 1-800-333-1795 or 1-800-772-1213, or go to a Social Security office.
