Toyota Recalls Thousands of 2025 Tacomas Due to Mechanical Failure
Toyota issued a voluntary recall of more than 6,000 2025 Tacoma pickup trucks after detecting a defect in the front driveshaft
Toyota Motor Corporation has initiated a voluntary recall of more than 6,000 2025 Tacoma pickup trucks in the United States, after identifying a possible defect in the front driveshaft joints.

The measure seeks to prevent safety risks, although to date there have been no accidents, injuries or claims related to the problem.

According to the manufacturer, the affected units correspond exclusively to all-wheel drive versions, which could present a failure derived from defective material in the axle joints. Under certain conditions, this part could deform or break, compromising the operation of the transmission and steering.
What can happen if the fault occurs?
Toyota explained that the detected problem could manifest itself in the form of difficulty when turning or parking the vehicle, due to the loss of smoothness in the steering system.
In the most serious cases, the defect could cause the truck to move unintentionally if the parking brake is not activated, which represents a potential risk to nearby occupants and pedestrians.
The preliminary report was sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), although the recall order was issued directly by the brand as a preventive measure. Toyota stated that its priority is to maintain the trust of its customers through early and transparent actions.
At no cost to owners
Owners of the affected trucks will receive an official notification at the end of November, with instructions on how to go to the nearest authorized dealer. At the workshop, a trained technician will inspect the front driveshaft and decide whether one or both joints need to be replaced.
Toyota confirmed that the repair will be completely free, including both parts and labor. This service policy seeks to ensure that no customer incurs costs due to a manufacturing defect.
A Series of Recent Recalls
The Japanese brand has maintained a strict policy of voluntary recalls in recent months. In a recent case, the 2024 and 2025 Tacoma pickup trucks were also recalled due to a problem with the braking system, which reduced the effectiveness of the pads and could lengthen stopping distances.
That incident was corrected by replacing components at dealerships, without major consequences. However, it served as a precedent to strengthen internal quality controls and testing procedures on the assembly line.
Likewise, Toyota recalled more than 590,000 vehicles of different models a few weeks ago due to a fault in the instrument panel displays. In some cases, the screens would turn off or display incorrect information about critical systems such as brakes, tire pressure, and warning lights.
These problems, although isolated, demonstrate that even the most reliable brands on the market are subject to demanding quality and safety standards, especially in vehicles that are mass-marketed in North America.
Throughout its history, Toyota has been recognized for the reliability and durability of its trucks, especially the Tacoma range, which is in high demand in the United States for its balance of power, technology, and off-road performance.
The manufacturer emphasized that this recall does not affect the production or sale of new units, since the defective parts were identified in a specific batch. Thanks to internal testing, the issue was detected before it caused a problem in the marketplace.
Toyota recommends 2025 Tacoma owners check their vehicle identification number (VIN) through the official Toyota website or the NHTSA portal, where recall details will be posted. If the vehicle falls within the affected range, a dealer appointment can be scheduled at no cost.
