Authorities identify the CJNG as the author of the car bomb that exploded in Michoacan

As part of the investigations related to the explosion of a car bomb in the municipality of Coahuayana, Michoacan, the State Attorney General's Office indicated that the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) was involved. behind this attack.
The attack was perpetrated on December 6th in front of the Community Police facilities in the aforementioned municipality, leaving five dead and 12 wounded.
During a press conference announcing the progress of the investigation, the Attorney General of Michoacan, Carlos Torres Pina, also confirmed that the explosion was caused by an explosive device detonated remotely, revealing the tactics employed by criminal groups in the region.
“The investigation originated in Michoacan. We have identified the faces of those who may have detonated the device remotely, revealing the possible dynamics of this regrettable event,” the official told the media.
“Given the tensions in the area, it is evident that it could have been the Jalisco cartel against the police of the community of Coahuayana,” Torres Pina added.
A day after the incident, the Government of Mexico, through the Attorney General's Office The Attorney General's Office (FGR) opened an investigation into organized crime following a car explosion in front of the aforementioned facilities. The Community Police is headed by Hector Zepeda Navarrete, alias "El Comandante Teto," identified as a former member of the self-defense groups that emerged in 2014 to combat the then-Knights Templar cartel. The Michoacan government has State Police officers stationed in Coahuayana, operating in coordination with the National Guard, the Mexican Army, and the Navy, according to EFE. Michoacan has 270 kilometers of coastline on the Mexican Pacific, distributed among the municipalities of Lazaro Cardenas, Aquila, and Coahuayana, where the Mexican Navy maintains constant operations at sea, as it is a route for cocaine trafficking from South America.The Mexican Navy has identified a strong confrontation on the Michoacan coast between the Community Police of Aquila and Coahuayana and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) for control of drug trafficking routes. Since November 10, Mexico has reinforced security in Michoacan following the assassination of Carlos Manzo, mayor of Uruapan, who was attacked during a public event on November 1, the Day of the Dead celebrations.
