Chinese drug trafficker pleaded guilty in the US to trafficking cocaine and laundering more than $22 million for the CJN
Wenshen Xu admitted having participated in the importation of more than 450 kilograms of cocaine into the United States and in the laundering of more than 22 million dollars
Chinese citizen Wenshen Xu, 52, pleaded guilty before a United States federal court to conspiring to traffic cocaine, laundering millions of dollars from drug trafficking and providing material support to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), US authorities reported in a statement.
Xu was captured in Guatemala City on July 17, 2025 and subsequently extradited to the United States on January 30, 2026, after Guatemalan authorities authorized his surrender to face criminal proceedings.
According to court documents, the defendant resided in Honduras and operated a logistics network in Latin America that facilitated the transfer of cocaine shipments to US territory.
The criminal structure included landing strips, airports, armored vehicles, couriers and collaborators in different countries in the region.
During the hearing, Xu admitted to having participated in the importation of more than 450 kilograms of cocaine into the United States and in the laundering of more than $22 million obtained from the sale of drugs.
Likewise, he acknowledged having provided material support to the CJNG, an organization that the United States Government has designated as a foreign terrorist group.
Investigations indicate that Xu coordinated drug transportation operations and the movement of illicit money for the criminal organization, using a network of contacts in several Latin American countries to guarantee the transfer of shipments and financial resources.
The guilty plea is part of the judicial process he faces in a US federal court. Sentencing will be handed down at a later date and could carry a prison sentence of several years, in accordance with applicable federal law.
