Authorities announce the discovery of human remains that could be those of a journalist kidnapped in Veracruz
Forensic specialists analyze the bone pieces found and, so far, there is no official confirmation that they correspond to the journalist.
The governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle, confirmed the discovery of bone pieces in a property secured as part of the investigations into the disappearance of journalist Roxana Guzmán Ramírez.
However, he asked to avoid speculation and wait for the results of expert analyzes to determine the identity of the remains.
During a press conference, the state president reported that the investigations are carried out by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and the Attorney General's Office (FGR), which keep the property located in the area of Ixhuatlán del Sureste under guard.
Nahle specified that the remains were not located in the place where the alleged perpetrators of the case were detained, but in another property related to the investigation.
He explained that forensic specialists analyze the bone pieces found and that, so far, there is no official confirmation that they correspond to the journalist.
The governor insisted that it will be the result of the DNA tests and the expert opinions that will establish the identity of the remains, which is why she called on people not to spread unsupported versions.
The case of Roxana Guzmán remains under investigation since last June 2, when the journalist was kidnapped from her home in the municipality of Nanchital.
As part of the investigations, the authorities have detained six people, including two civilians and four municipal police officers from Ixhuatlán del Sureste, who are allegedly linked to the kidnapping.
For their part, Roxana Guzmán's family has requested to wait for official information from the authorities and avoid the dissemination of unconfirmed data about the case.
