According to Julio César Chávez, the incident was overstated by public opinion and the media, moving away from what really happened in the private sphere.
The version of events according to legend
In a video broadcast by El Heraldo Deportes, Julio César Chávez emphasized that the main problem lay in the nature of the relationship his son had.
"The case of my son Omar is a case that is already closed, thank God he is already at home. The truth is he had a conflictive partner, a very toxic partner," said the former world monarch.
According to what the boxer stated, the altercation escalated when Omar's partner physically attacked him.
Faced with this situation, Omar Chávez reacted by pushing her, which was later interpreted and reported as an act of domestic violence, generating a spiral of accusations that culminated in his arrest.
"In an outburst she slapped her and Omar pushed her. Then the girl said and reported that Omar had hit her. It became a snowball until it exploded," explained Julio César Chávez in the same material cited by the sports media.
Legal status and current status
After being transferred to the Aguaruto Penitentiary Center, Omar Chávez remained detained for a few hours while he voluntarily appeared to testify. Julio César Chávez clarified that his son went to the authorities because he had nothing to hide, regretting that the case became a media spectacle based on inaccurate information.
"There was a scandal that they had caught him here and there... and the bad temper. But thank God Omar is fine," concluded the historic boxer.
Currently, the legal process for accusations of injuries and family violence continues, although Omar is facing the charges on probation.
After regaining his freedom, Omar Chávez has resumed his daily activities. The boxer has been seen resuming his exercise routine, practicing basketball with his family and participating in racquetball games, trying to return to normality while continuing to comply with the legal requirements established by the Sinaloa authorities.
