A one-year-old baby died Monday after being found unconscious in the bathroom of a house located on 157th Street, near 108th Avenue, in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, New York, police sources told the New York Post.

The discovery was made around 1:30 In the afternoon, officers from the New York Police Department responded to the residence after receiving an emergency call. Upon arrival, they found the child unresponsive in the bathroom. The child was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. The mother was hospitalized and faces criminal charges. The child's mother, identified as 28-year-old Nicole Boodhai, was found with cuts on her wrists inside the residence, according to police.
