Mother of three children allegedly murdered by her husband in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania authorities are investigating an alleged murder-suicide in Halifax, where a well-known teacher was found dead
A beloved teacher and mother identified as Taryn Morgan, 45, was found dead inside her home on Carsonville Road in Halifax around 2:00 p.m. on May 21, Pennsylvania state authorities reported.
The woman had gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was attacked during a “domestic altercation” with her husband, Dennis Morgan, 46, reported the Daily Mail.
The man was also found with suspected self-inflicted gunshot wounds and was taken to a hospital. Authorities said he was not expected to survive, although no official updates on his health were subsequently provided.
So far, no details have been revealed about what caused the argument.
A community shocked by the death of the educator
The death of Taryn Morgan generated a deep reaction among family members, students and members of the local educational community.
The woman leaves behind three children: Morgan and Carter Imhof, and Kimber Morgan.
Her daughter, Morgan, posted a short and emotional message on social media: “I love you, mom.”
A GoFundMe campaign was also created to financially support the victim's children.
“Taryn was a dedicated mother, a great teacher, businesswoman and loving daughter,” notes the fundraiser, which raised nearly $26,000 of a $35,000 goal.
She was a renowned agriculture professor
Morgan worked as an agriculture teacher in the Upper Dauphin Area School District's Future Farmers of America and Agriculture program.
The organization described her as a mentor and positive figure to numerous students and community members.
"Mrs. Morgan was more than an educator. She was a mentor, a role model and a constant source of passion and positivity," the program said in a tribute.
The group hosted a plant sale Saturday to honor his legacy. According to the organization, the community quickly sold out of the greenhouse as a show of support and recognition.
In addition to their educational career, Taryn and Dennis Morgan owned the Carsonville Hotel, an establishment known for hosting live musical performances.
The school district previously noted that Morgan had more than 20 years of experience as an educator and enjoyed reading, baking and landscaping.
According to reports cited in local media, Dennis Morgan had been diagnosed in 2020 with synovial sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects soft tissues. At the beginning of 2021 he was declared cancer-free.
