Shooting in shopping center in Dallas, Texas, leaves two dead
A shooting in K Towne Plaza in Carrollton, Texas, left two dead and three injured
Two people died and three were injured on Tuesday after a man opened fire at the K Towne Plaza shopping center, north of Dallas, Carrollton police confirmed.
After the attack, the shooter was arrested, announced Roberto Arredondo, Carrollton's police chief, who assured that the attack was direct and not random, since the victims knew the subject.
“We don't know exactly what the meeting was about, but we understand that it was a business relationship,” he said.
The suspect was arrested
Authorities reported that the suspect was arrested after a foot chase. Arredondo said that an investigation was opened to clarify the motives for the attack.
A video disseminated on social media showed armed agents as they passed the doors of the mall. Among the law enforcement present were members of the FBI and another federal agency.
Where is Carrollton located?
Carrollton, located 20 miles north of Dallas, has a significant Korean community. According to the Community Survey American unit of the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 4,000 of its more than 130,000 inhabitants are of Korean descent.
In the last two decades, investment by Korean entrepreneurs has consolidated a prosperous neighborhood in the city, known for its large stores commercials, such as the H-Mart supermarket, and a wide offering of Korean restaurants that include from fried chicken to shaved ice desserts.
Carrollton is home to various Korean churches, from Baptist to Presbyterian.
Police continue gathering information about the shooting while charges against the assaulter are determined.
