“They are killing us”: residents of Guerrero ask for help from the US against attacks from “Los Ardillos”
In a video disseminated on social networks, a group of women appears with their face covered out of fear of retaliation while asking help from the US government.
The wave of violence in the municipality of Chilapa, Guerrero, has caused the displacement of hundreds of indigenous families, who launched a call for help in response to the aggressions of the criminal group “Los Ardillos”.
In a video disseminated on social networks, a group of women appears with their face covered out of fear of retaliation while they ask help from the United States government, arguing that President Claudia Sheinbaum doesn't address the situation.
“Donald Trump, help us, send the helicopters to save us. We are surrounded,” one of the women is heard saying.
“We want support with the United States Government because President Claudia Sheinbaum doesn't pay attention to us, she doesn't want to send us support, we are refugees, indigenous people, the children are suffering, we don't eat,” he says in another part of the recording.
They also reported that members of the criminal group cut off the electricity supply in some areas where several families were sheltering, which forced many people to go into the hills to try to protect themselves.
The women explained that they decided to cover their face because they fear retaliation if they are identified. “If they look at us, they will grab us and they will torture us, they will cut us into pieces,” they said.
This Tuesday was the sixth day of consecutive attacks by “Los Ardillos” with firearms and explosives launched with drones.
According to Mexican media such as the newspaper La Jornada, on this occasion they focused their aggressions on the community of Alcozocán, where the most of the 800 displaced were refugees.
