They caught two dangerous inmates who escaped from a detention center in Kentucky
Kentucky authorities deployed after the breakout from a detention center in Rowan County and captured the two inmates hours later
Two inmates described by authorities as “dangerous” escaped on Friday night from Rowan County Detention Center, located in Kentucky, which caused a amp a search operation headed by state and agencies. The individuals were located a day later and are in the custody of the authorities.
The Morehead Police Department reported on May 8 that the inmates left the prison.
They identify the fugitives
The authorities identified one of the fugitives as Michael Fogleman, 29 years old. According to the official description, he is approx. imamly 1.83 meters and weighs about 85 kilograms. He has short or shaved hair and a short beard on the jaw and chin.
The second inmate was identified as James Smallwood, 52 years old, who is about 1.85 meters and weighs around 97 kilograms. He was described with medium to stocky build and gray facial hair around the mouth and chin.
Police said Smallwood was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and possibly a hat.
Arrest of the fugitives announced
“After receiving complaints, the Morehead Police Department located and arrested Michael Fogleman and James Smallwood in the Christy Creek area,” police reported Saturday.
The Morehead Police Department thanked community members who noticed suspicious activity and contacted authorities. “Your vigilance and cooperation help keep our community safe,” they added.
Prior to the capture of the fugitives, authorities asked residents of the area to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the 911 emergency service.
Furthermore, they stressed that fugitives shouldn't be confronted by civilians due to the potential risk they represent.
“These inmates must be considered dangerous,” stated the authorities in the statement disseminated after the leak.
So far, no details have been revealed about how the escape occurred or the circumstances that allowed the detainees to leave the penitentiary center.
