The woman was rushed to a hospital where she is recovering.
The suspect and the charges
The alleged assailant, 26-year-old G'Andre Clark, was arrested and faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a crime that can carry lengthy prison sentences in Texas.
“The attack could have ended in tragedy. The woman could have died,” warned Sheriff Alan Rosen.
Authorities stressed the need to take extra precautions when using dating apps. Relationship experts say that conducting background checks before a meeting can be crucial to avoiding risks.
In addition to private online background check services, they recommend checking public county court records and relying on family or friends for added security.
Police noted that no digital platform guarantees absolute safety. "Users should be informed of the risks before deciding to meet in person," authorities said.
