Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera has been confirmed as the star of the highly anticipated television adaptation of The House of the Spirits, the iconic novel by Chilean writer Isabel Allende.
The production, by Prime Video, is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious releases of the year and will have Its official premiere will be at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, which will take place from February 12 to 22, 2026. Herrera will play Esteban Trueba, the family patriarch, in a story that spans several decades of Chilean history through three generations of women. The actor expressed his enthusiasm for the project, noting that this work is a “reflection of Latin America” and a necessary exercise in memory. The series, which consists of eight episodes, is executive produced by actress and businesswoman Eva Longoria. The project is an international collaboration between FilmNation and the Chilean production company Fabula, directed and developed by Francisca Alegria, Fernanda Urrejola, and Andres Wood. The cast accompanying Herrera is notable for its diversity and prestige, including figures such as Nicole Wallace, Dolores Fonzi, Fernanda Castillo, Maribel Verdu, Eduard Fernandez, and Antonia Zegers. Following its presentation in the Berlinale Special section, the series will arrive on the Prime Video catalog worldwide in 2026.
