Eiza Gonzalez talks about her battle against eating disorders
The Mexican actress revealed how media pressure and criticism of her physique during her adolescence led her to a difficult personal battle
Eiza Gonzalez, one of the most prominent Latina figures in Hollywood, decided to open her heart like never before. In an act of honesty that moved her followers, the actress opened up about her battle with eating disorders. Through her social media platforms and in a message filled with vulnerability, Eiza recalled how the obsession with fitting into beauty standards consumed her for years. “I became obsessed: I constantly weighed myself, measured my weight in kilos, wondered if losing more weight would make people like me or if I would like myself,” the Baby Driver actress confessed on her Instagram account. The actress explained that, in her teens, she mistakenly believed that achieving an extremely thin figure would grant her validation from those who judged her. However, she discovered that external approval is an illusion.
“That approval never came. Instead, the opinions multiplied. I gave in to the pressure and felt emptier than ever,” she admitted.
Today, with a consolidated career and a maturity that allows her to prioritize her well-being, Gonzalez claims to have left harmful habits behind. Her approach has changed radically, moving from self-criticism to respect for her own body.
“Today, as an adult woman, I choose myself. I have made a deep commitment to loving my body, nourishing it with kindness, care, and respect,” she concluded.
With this testimony, Eiza not only seeks to heal her own wounds but also to send a message of awareness about the importance of mental health and the danger of others' judgments about physical appearance.
