Heung-Min Son of LAFC receives a well-deserved tribute from Tottenham in England
The former Spurs striker was cheered before the Champions League match against Slavia Prague and was immortalized with a mural at Tottenham High Road.
Tottenham Hotspur experienced a night marked by emotion and nostalgia. This Tuesday, Spurs paid a special tribute to Heung-Min Son, one of the most beloved and influential players in their recent history, ahead of their Champions League clash against Slavia Prague. Son, who shone at the club for ten seasons, greeted the fans with words that resonated throughout Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: "It was an incredible ten years. I will always be with you and I will never forget you. Don't forget me either. I love you all very much," the South Korean said before receiving a commemorative plaque. Following his departure last summer to LAFC of MLS, Son's legacy remains monumental. The striker arrived in London in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen and left behind legendary numbers: 454 matches, 173 goals—the fifth-highest tally in the club's history—and 96 assists, figures that solidify his status as the highest-scoring foreign player in Spurs history. He was also a key player in winning the 2025 Europa League, a title that ended a 17-year drought. The South Korean's impact also transcended global borders. His spectacular goal against Burnley earned him the 2020 Puskas Award, and in the 2021-2022 season, he won the Premier League Golden Boot, becoming the Asian player with the most goals in the competition's history. As part of the celebration, the club and the supporters' council unveiled a mural dedicated to Son at Tottenham High Road, created by Murwalls, the same artistic team responsible for the murals of Ledley King and Harry Kane. Another way to immortalize a player who marked an era and who, as the fans show, will never be forgotten.
