Jennifer Lopez opens up about her divorce from Marc Anthony: 'It was very difficult'
After years of her divorce from Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez shared new details about their separation
In an emotional moment during her Las Vegas residency, Jennifer Lopez offered details about what she describes as a "really difficult" divorce process from her ex-husband, Marc Anthony.
The 56-year-old artist, known for hits like "Let's Get Loud," was married to the Latin superstar of 57 years between 2004 and 2014. From that union, her twins, Max and Emme, were born, who are now 18 years old.
During her performance this Friday, Lopez recalled that complicated chapter of her life, even joking about her marital history.
“After my third divorce, that’s when I really started getting good at this,” the singer joked to the audience, before turning serious: “Seriously, that’s not funny. It’s not funny.”
She then confessed the harshness of that time: “The truth is, it was a very difficult time. I was about to give up. I was a single mother with two three-year-old twins.”
In the midst of that personal crisis, Jennifer says she found solace in the late self-help author Louise Hay. The actress from “Kiss of the Spider Woman” recounted the conversation she had with her mentor at the time. “She said to me, ‘Jennifer, you’re a dancer, right?’ I said, ‘Yes, I am.’ And she replied, ‘When you’re learning a dance and you make mistakes in the steps, what do you do?’ I said, ‘I keep going until I master them.’ And she concluded, ‘That’s right, Jennifer. Always keep dancing.’” The metaphor resonated deeply with the actress, who used that wisdom to overcome the setback. Visibly moved, she shared the message with her audience: “And I wish the same for each and every one of you, that no matter what happens in life, dance, dance, dance, dance, again and again. I love you all so much!” Marc Anthony's divorce was Jennifer Lopez's third, following her marriages to Ojani Noa (1997-1998) and Cris Judd (2001-2003). Her love life would make headlines again years later with her reconciliation and subsequent marriage to Ben Affleck in 2022, a union that ultimately dissolved in 2025.
