Beyond music, Jennifer Lopez reflected on her role as an actress and the challenges she has faced throughout her artistic career.
In a recent meeting with the press, for the promotion of her new film Kiss of the Spider Woman, JLo assured that, although she has been frustrated many times, She chose not to sit idly by and to showcase her talent at every opportunity.
“I always felt like I was doing the best with what they gave me. Of course, I got frustrated a lot of times, but I chose not to stay angry and instead show what I could give,” said the actress, in statements collected by the newspaper El Listin.
The actress and singer said she is proud that directors like Bill Condon and Bob Zemeckis now call her to work with them.
“It's the result of all that work. It took me years, but here I am,” she said.
JLo indicated that she hopes that new generations of Latina actresses don't have to wait so long to get a chance in a film.
“I'm glad that they are now receiving opportunities at 20, which I had much later. And that gives me hope,” she said.
Lopez also spoke about her upcoming film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, a musical remake directed by Condon, which addresses issues of queer and Latina representation in a current political and cultural context.
The actress, who is also the film's executive producer, highlighted the value of this production as an act of resistance through fantasy and love, and said that the shoot was an intense physical challenge with eight musical numbers filmed in long sessions without cuts.
The Bronx star explained that in her role as executive producer, she was also involved in everything from writing the script to marketing.
