The 2026 American Music Awards ceremony marked an unforgettable night for Colombian singer Karol G, who won two important awards during the evening: Artistic Excellence and Best Latin Album of the Year.

Dressed in a sensual silver outfit with transparencies, the so-called 'Bichota' opened her participation in the gala with a performance of “Ivonne Bonita”, one of the star songs from her album “Tropicoqueta”.

After the applause of the public and artists present at the event, the famous 35-year-old received the International Award of Artistic Excellence from the American Music Awards, an award that had not been given since it was awarded to Whitney Houston in 2009. The list of artists deserving of this honor includes Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Led Zeppelin and the Bee Gees, to name a few.

The singer John Legend was in charge of awarding the award to Karol G, but not before dedicating a few words to him in which he highlighted the impact of his music worldwide, as well as the achievements that have stood out in his career, including his presentation as the main artist at the 2026 Coachella Festival.

"There are artists who make hits, and then there are artists who make history (...) This is a rare and highly important honor that has been awarded to some of the most iconic superstars of our times. Global sensations who have made music history and changed culture around the world. Like millions of fans everywhere, I deeply admire Karol G," said the composer.

For her part, the “Provenza” singer stated that beyond the records and awards, her greatest reward is the affection of the public. "The most important thing in my life is purpose. I found that purpose through my music (...) It only makes me happy to be able to perform a song and say things in my songs that become the voice of many people, in a place of healing, in a safe place," he said.

Karol G wins the category of “Best Latin Album of the Year”

The surprises did not end there for the singer born in Medellín, Colombia. And before leaving the stage, John Legend revealed that “Tropicoqueta” won the “Best Latin Album of the Year” category at the 2026 American Music Awards.

Karol G, completely surprised, reacted with screams and gestures of joy for receiving a second award on the night that already looked historic for her and the Latin community that follows her around the world.

"I'm super grateful, I'm super happy, I'm super honored... and thank you to all the singers who were here supporting me tonight, thank you very, very much. To all my fans around the world, I love you so much. Thank you, thank you AMAs," she concluded.
