After several months of speculation, it has been confirmed that Kathryn Hahn will play the character of "Mother Gothel" in the live-action Tangled, Disney's new cinematic offering based on its animated film 2010.

The news was confirmed by the actress herself, who, using her characteristic humor, posted a video on Instagram showing her "OOTD" (outfit of the day). It consisted of jeans, sunglasses, and an item of clothing that put an end to any doubts about her participation in the project.

It was a black t-shirt printed with multiple images of the animated character Mother Gothel: "Here's my outfit of the day. Jeans, sunglasses, a t-shirt... something simple, you know? Another day," the actress can be heard saying.

In response to this confirmation, the public flooded her profile with congratulations and messages of support for this new project. "I needed a few work hours before I could comment on this. That's how excited I am"; "I think I'm going to have a heart attack, finally, I'm going crazy"; "I'm more than ready, let's gooooo!"; “I can't believe they heard about fancasting for the first time,” some users commented.

Until a few months ago, Scarlett Johansson's name was also linked to the role of “Mother Gothel.” However, it was soon revealed that, while there were talks, the actress couldn't continue negotiations due to other commitments in her schedule.

Prior to Kathryn Hahn's announcement, Disney had already revealed the leads who will headline this new version of “Tangled”: actress Teagan Croft (“Titans,” 2018) will take on the role of “Rapunzel,” while Milo Manheim (“School Spirits,” 2023) will play Flynn Rider.

The live-action “Tangled” will be directed by Michael Gracey, an Australian filmmaker who has international acclaim thanks to the musical “The Greatest Showman.” Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is in charge of the script and Lucy Kitada heads the team as executive producer.

Because the project is still in the early stages of development, an official release date for the film has not been confirmed.

This new film, as confirmed by the renowned studio, will be a live-action adaptation of “Tangled,” the animated feature film that premiered in theaters in 2016. This, in turn, was inspired by the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Rapunzel,” which tells the story of a young princess with long, magical blonde hair who has spent her entire life confined in a tower under the watchful eye of “Mother Gothel” (Kathryn Hahn).
