This will be Taylor Swift's great cinematic party: dates, theaters and what you will see on screen
Taylor Swift's new album will be released on October 3. According to the artist, it will be a pop album and will only have 12 songs.
This October, Taylor Swift will not only release a new album —The Life of a Showgirl—, but she will also return to the big screen with a cinematic proposal as innovative as herself: “Taylor Swift: The Official Launch Party of a Showgirl,” an exclusive event 89 minutes that will be screened in thousands of theaters across North America and over a hundred countries around the world, starting October 3rd, coinciding with the album's release.
Far from being a conventional film, this “party” is a collective celebration designed for Swifties, a massive version of the famous “secret sessions” that the artist usually organizes for her closest fans.
During the release weekend (from Friday, October 3rd to Sunday, October 5th), attendees will be able to enjoy exclusive content in movie theaters, including the world premiere of the music video for 'The Fate of Ophelia', the first song from the new album, accompanied by behind-the-scenes material, lyric videos for other songs, and never-before-seen personal reflections from Taylor on the creative process of Showgirl.
A different cinematic experience
Organized in collaboration with AMC Theatres Distribution —Swift's strategic partner since the historic success of The Eras Tour—, the screening will take place in 540 AMC theaters and thousands of other chains like Cinemark and Regal across the U.S. and Canada. Showtimes will begin simultaneously in different time zones: 3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT on October 3.
But the most revolutionary thing isn't just the content, but the in-theater experience. For the first time, AMC has explicitly authorized attendees to sing and dance during the screening—something strictly prohibited at traditional screenings—as long as they don't climb on seats or block aisles, according to Variety.
Furthermore, there will be no trailers or commercials, so it's recommended to arrive on time: any delay will mean missing part of the show.
The price of admission will be $12,A number loaded with meaning: The Life of a Showgirl is Swift's twelfth studio album and contains exactly 12 songs. While 13 remains her signature number, 12 takes center stage in this new era. Tickets went on sale today at 12:12 p.m. ET, a further nod to the artist's numerical symbolism. Fans can purchase them through amctheatres.com (for AMC theaters) or releasepartyofashowgirl.com (for other networks).
In addition, it was reported that countries like Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand will enjoy the party the same weekend of October 3-5, but other territories will have their premiere at a later date in October, which will be officially announced around October 3.
With the return of legendary producers Max Martin and Shellback—artists of many of her biggest hits—'The Life of a Showgirl' promises to be an album full of energy and dancing. And this "release party" is just the beginning. As always, Taylor Swift doesn't just release music: she creates moments, communities, and shared memories.
