President Election 2022: After West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar has called a meeting of opposition parties to select the presidential candidate. All India Majlis-e-Ittehatul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has also been invited to Sharad Pawar's meeting.

Owaisi was not invited by Mamata Banerjee in her meeting called on June 15. In the June 15 meeting, three names were revealed as presidential candidates. Sharad Pawar and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah refused to contest the presidential election. However, Gopalkrishna Gandhi has thanked the opposition parties.
AIMIM representative will also attend Sharad Pawar's meeting

Sharad Pawar and Farooq Abdullah refuse to contest elections

Farooq Abdullah and Gopalkrishna Gandhi can be made presidential candidates from the opposition. However, Farooq's son Omar Abdullah said not to discuss his father's name. Later, Farooq Abdullah himself refused to contest the presidential election, saying that this time is very critical for Jammu and Kashmir. The people of Jammu and Kashmir need him more.
Voting for the Presidential election will be held on 18th July
It is noteworthy that the notification for the Presidential election has been issued. On July 18, voting will take place in the Parliament as well as in the state legislatures for the election of the new President. Counting of votes will be done on July 21 and on the same day it will be known who will be the new President of the country.
