Acid attack victim Munni Devi, a resident of Dadha village under Thana Shahi, Bareilly, died on ventilator on Sunday night. Tau cremated his dead body in Bareilly itself. After marriage a week ago, own people had tried to kill her for the sake of respect.

Totaram had married his daughter Munni Devi on April 22 with Devendra, a resident of Bhagwanpur village under Binavar police station of Badaun. Munni was having a love affair with a young man from the village. He could hardly get married. She was not even ready to live in her in-laws house.

On the complaint of the in-laws, the father, brother and two brothers-in-law hatched a conspiracy and called Munni Devi and tried to kill her by strangulation on the Shankha Road on the night of April 24. Tried to erase the identity by putting toilet cleaner (light acid) on the mouth and body. They left her thinking that she was dead, however, in the morning, when she came to the road after dragging herself from the fields, the police's investigation revealed the difference.

Munni Devi was being treated at the private medical college in Bhojipura. He breathed his last here on Sunday night. No one came from the village on information. Calling Tau Tejram, the police filled the Panchnama and got the post-mortem done. Tau performed the last rites of the dead body in the Bareilly cremation ground itself.

The deceased was third among three sisters and two brothers. There was a strange kind of silence in the village due to the news of his death. The other sisters in the house and the women in the family were not even ready to talk about her. The sister even said that she has brought bad name to the family, does not want to say anything about it. The family members also made a mistake in anger, for which their entire family is suffering.

After the death of the girl, the dead body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. Four accused were named in the attempt to murder case. Two were sent to jail then, action has now been taken on the remaining two.
