Bhopal Gas Tragedy: Three people had to be taken to the hospital on Wednesday night after complaining of difficulty in breathing after a gas leak was reported from a chlorine tank set up for cleaning water in Bhopal's Idgah Hills. Several others fell ill and complained of burning in their eyes and difficulty in breathing. The incident took place at a water treatment plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and the gas leak forced many people to stay out of their homes. Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported and took stock of the situation. He also gave instructions to the concerned officers.
Gas cylinder leaking due to nozzle fault
On information, Bhopal Collector and Municipal Commissioner reached the spot. The civic body team found that the nozzle of a 900 kg chlorine gas cylinder installed at a water treatment plant in the area had started leaking due to a fault. The team brought the situation under control by adding water and 5 kg of caustic soda. About three people from the area were admitted to Hamidia Hospital due to difficulty in breathing. Although they are said to be out of danger.

Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vishwas Sarang and Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai reached Hamidia Hospital to know the condition of the victims. Please tell that as a precaution, there will be no water supply in the affected area on Thursday. Madhya Pradesh Congress chief and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has tweeted demanding proper treatment of the victims and investigation of the matter. He tweeted and wrote that in the Mother India Colony of Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal, there has been news of burning in the eyes and shortness of breath and hospitalization of some people due to the leakage of chlorine gas tank.
