Cold wave conditions are becoming more severe in the national capital, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan with passing days. There is no hope of relief for the next four days. The weather in Delhi remains extremely cold and a yellow alert has been issued for today. Dense fog remained in many areas till late morning on Sunday. People kept chilling due to western and north-westerly winds. The maximum temperature settled at 16.2 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal. Dense fog remained in many areas of National Capital Region, Haryana, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan till late Sunday morning. The mercury reached minus 10.8 degrees in Keylong, Himachal Pradesh is also in the grip of cold wave. Sunday was the coldest day of the season in Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul. The minimum temperature here fell below minus 10.8 degrees. The maximum temperature was recorded at 1.4 degree Celsius. The mercury in seven areas of the state including Manali has gone below zero. According to the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the high altitude areas including Shimla on Monday and December 29. Yellow alert of fog has been issued for the plains.
